The Top 100 Groovy Gay Movies: 2010 Edition

Last June I posted my list of the Top 100 Groovy Gay Movies (in chronological order). So I decided to revisit the list a year later, adding 13 new films (in bold) that I either completely forgot about last time, that were recommended by readers or that I just saw and enjoyed. Many of the movies are guilty pleasures, a few just have a memorable gay character or scene, and some simply give off a very queer vibe. If I've left off one of your favorites, let me know and maybe you'll see it on next year's list. And in case you're wondering, the photo is of Matthew Goode and Colin Firth in A Single Man, which I highly recommend.

I finally was able to see "A Single Man". I loved it! It was very moving and sentimental. Colin Firth: excellent actor and perfect in the role. I highly recommended the film to anyone who has not yet viewed it.

Thanks. A great list. There are a couple of French films that are missing from your list that I think are very good: Grande Ecole from 2004 and Presque Rien (Come Undone) from 2000.

I was surprised to see that "Watercolors" wasn't on the list. It's such a beautiful movie; one of my favorite gay films.

Many of my favorites are on the list, I did not see The 24th Day.
While I appreciate all those 1980's AIDS movies which of course were so important during the height of the epidemic. However, the 24th day puts a more updated social responsibility and realism. Plus the two main stars are major eye candy.... I won't mention them here, go ahead, investigate the movie, you will be pleasantly surprised.
I read someone mentioned a few international films and I agree with that too, but again I can recommend a movie that does not have your typical gay character and thats Burnt Money.... While in Spanish its like The Godfather meets Priscilla Queen of the Desert.

Thanks for the film recommendations, Tyler - and I agree that Mr. Speedman and Mr. Marsden are major eye candy. I will have to check them out.

Glad to see La cage aux Folles on there, it was truly hilarious! However I was extremely surprised not to see Prayers for Bobby on the list; in my opinion simply one of the best films made, it is to date the only film to have made me cry. The emotionally intense plot, based on a true story, has a really heartwarming ending. Definitely well worth a watch! :)

Marc said...

Thanks for your comment, Richard! Prayers for Bobby made my original list in 2009. It's difficult to narrow down such a list when there are so many groovy gay movies out there.

plz suggest some gay movies regarding young and old love romance, bcoz i like mature men, thnx

Marc said...

Hey, Anonymous, only one film comes to mind featuring an older man/younger man romance, and that is the 2008 film, Mulligans, starring Charlie David. I've only seen clips of it on YouTube, but it looks pretty good.
