Web Series Worth Watching: Husbands, the first marriage equality comedy

Web Series of the Week: Husbands
Promoted as the world's first marriage equality comedy, this new web series tells the story of a flamboyantly out actor (Cheeks) and his professional baseball player boyfriend (a hunky Sean Hemeon), who wake up after a drunken Vegas weekend to discover that they are now legally married husbands. Created by Jane Espenson (who has written for Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Torchwood: Miracle Day and Gilmore Girls) and Brad Bell (aka "Cheeks"), Husbands is a light and funny sitcom with two engaging leads (actress Alessandra Torresani is also a regular as Cheeks' best friend). My only complaint so far is that the episodes run less than two minutes, which barely gives the characters enough time to do anything. But I still find it a promising new LGBT series that is definitely worth watching - and it also certainly doesn't hurt to have actor Nathan Fillion (Castle) as a guest star in an upcoming episode.

PLEASE NOTE: The next Web Series Worth Watching will be on Sunday, October 2.

Other web series worth watching this week are:

Jack In A Box
I can't believe another season of Michael Cyril Creighton's hilarious web series has come to an end, but sadly it has. In the Season 3 finale, "The Break Up", Jack's "nonconventional" agent Gloria (played with scenery-chewing relish by Lusia Strus) invites him to a party - and we also learn the fate of his relationship with Drew. To watch Jack from the bitter beginning, go to or subscribe to his YouTube Channel.  You can also become a fan on Facebook.

The Legend of Sprada
This amusing new web series tells the story of Sprada and how she became an international superstar. In the first two episodes we learn how she arrived in Chicago and met her future sidekick, Dixie Lynn Cartwright. It's silly stuff, but drag queens just make me smile. For more info on Sprada, go to You can also follow Sprada on Twitter.

Stallions de Amor
Finally, the question of "Who killed Merlinda Stallion?" is going to be answered when this campy telenovela spoof debuts on September 21. I featured its trailer over a year ago here on the Dish, so I'm happy that creator Efrain Schunior is now going to let us watch his web series, which looks like it could be a lot of fun. For more info on Stallions, go to or subscribe to its YouTube Channel. You can also become a fan on Facebook.

Steve Hayes: Tired Old Queen at the Movies
This week the grooviest film critic ever reviews China Seas (1935) starring Clark Gable and Jean Harlow. For more TOQ, subscribe to his YouTube Channel. You can also become a fan on Facebook or follow Steve on Twitter.
