Groovy Giveaway: The Fire Island Cookbook

This week I'm giving away a copy of The Fire Island Cookbook by Mike DeSimone and Jeff Jenssen, also known as the "World Wine Guys" and the Entertaining and Lifestyle Editors of Wine Enthusiast Magazine. They have put together a mouthwatering collection of meals for each summer weekend - from Memorial Day to Labor Day - for your Fire Island gatherings (and for those of us who live in Chicago and elsewhere).

Every chapter is a virtual dinner party with recipes for a full menu from appetizer to dessert, photos, serving suggestions, plating ideas, and wine pairings. The fourteen menus - which were influenced by the authors’ travels to Italy, France, Spain, Greece, Mexico, Cape Cod and, of course, Fire Island - include a Fourth of July Pool Party, A Midsummer Night's Dinner, a Paella Beach Party and a Labor Day Caribbean Barbecue. And a few of the recipes that caught my eye were ones for Gazpacho, Lobster Rolls, Grilled Spicy Shrimp and Pineapple Skewers, Tapas Bar Seafood Salad, Viennese Stuffed Peppers, Chicken Paprikash with Homemade Butter Dumplings, Salted Chocolate Caramel Brownies and Flaming Apricot Palacsinta. So if you're planning to entertain your friends and family this summer, I highly recommend that you check out The Fire Island Cookbook for some delicious culinary ideas.

It's funny - I always thought Fire Island was famous for a different kind of tasty mouthful altogether... Jx
