Top 10 Tuesday of Groovy Tunes: Connie Francis knows "Where the Boys Are"

Each week I feature 10 groovy tunes that have appeared on Billboard's Hot 100 chart during the last 50+ years. You can vote for your three favorites, and the five with the most votes move on to the following week when five new songs will be added to the list.

Last week Cyndi Lauper claimed the top spot with "Girls Just Want to Have Fun", which received 28 votes out of the 161 cast. And this week she will be challenged by Connie Francis, Culture Club and the Carpenters.

1) "Girls Just Want to Have Fun"/Cyndi Lauper (Week 2) - #2 the week of March 17, 1984

2) "Crazy"/Patsy Cline (LW #2, W14) - 21 weeks on Billboard's Hot 100 chart in 1961-62

3) "The Winner Takes It All"/ABBA (LW #4, W3) - #8 the week of March 14, 1981

4) "What Have I Done to Deserve This?"/Pet Shop Boys (with Dusty Springfield) (W2) - 18 weeks on Billboard's Hot 100 chart in 1987-88

5) "Last Dance"/Donna Summer (LW #1, W33) - 21 weeks on Billboard's Hot 100 chart in 1978

6) "Beyond the Sea"/Bobby Darin (DEBUT) - #7 the week of March 12, 1960

7) "Where the Boys Are"/Connie Francis (DEBUT) - #5 the week of March 18, 1961

8) "For All We Know"/Carpenters (DEBUT) - #3 the week of March 13, 1971

9) "Just the Way You Are"/Billy Joel (DEBUT) - #9 the week of March 11, 1978

10) "Do You Really Want to Hurt Me"/Culture Club (DEBUT) - #4 the week of March 12, 1983

Oh Marc! This was the toughest list to choose from in a very long time. I wanted to vote for (almost) all of them... this is an awesome list of music! In the end, having to whittle it down to three, I chose: ABBA, Miss. Connie Francis, and (of course) Karen & Richard!

Hey, Lance, I'm glad you liked this week's list. Thanks for voting!

These days the spring vacation/break tune would not be "Where The Boys Are" but rather "Where Did My Underwear Go?"

You're probably right, OSR - but I would love to hear Connie sing "Where Did My Underwear Go?" :)
