Top 10 Tuesday of Groovy Tunes: Madonna is a "Material Girl"

Each week I feature 10 groovy tunes that have appeared on Billboard's Hot 100 chart during the last 50+ years. You can vote for your three favorites, and the five with the most votes move on to the following week when five new songs will be added to the list.

Last week Shirley Bassey claimed the top spot with "Goldfinger", which received 29 votes out of the 171 cast. And this week she will be challenged by Maxine Nightingale, The Mamas & the Papas and Madonna.

1) "Goldfinger"/Shirley Bassey (Week 2) - #14 the week of April 10, 1965

2) "Crazy"/Patsy Cline (LW #5, W17) - 21 weeks on Billboard's Hot 100 chart in 1961-62

3) "For All We Know"/Carpenters (LW #4, W4) - #5 the week of April 10, 1971

4) "Girls Just Want to Have Fun"/Cyndi Lauper (LW #3, W5) - #11 the week of April 14, 1984

5) "Here Comes the Rain Again"/Eurythmics (LW #2, W3) - #7 the week of April 14, 1984

6) "California Dreamin'"/The Mamas & the Papas (DEBUT) - #10 the week of April 9, 1966

7) "Easy Come, Easy Go"/Bobby Sherman (DEBUT) - #9 the week of April 11, 1970

8) "Right Back Where We Started From"/Maxine Nightingale (DEBUT) - #5 the week of April 10, 1976

9) "Stumblin' In"/Suzi Quatro & Chris Norman (DEBUT) - #9 the week of April 14, 1979

The song is silly and he wasn't the greatest singer but I just had to vote for Bobby Sherman! I loved him so much when I was a kid on "Here Come the Brides", he and Bill Bixby were my first crushes.

There's just "something" about Miss. Cline; The Mamas and The Papas; and Karen & Richard that keeps me comin' back for more. And THAT'S why I keep voting for them! =)

Thanks for voting, guys!

And, Joel, I had to include the Bobby Sherman song because of his black leather pants in the video!
