Top 10 Tuesday of Groovy Music #3

Each week I feature 10 groovy albums that have appeared on the Billboard 200 (aka Top LPs) chart during the last 50+ years. You can vote for your three favorites, and the five with the most votes move on to the following week when five new albums will be added to the list.

Last week Carole King remained at the top with her 1971 album, Tapestry, which received 24 votes out of the 140 cast. And this week she will be challenged by Tina Turner, Tears for Fears and Madonna.

1) Tapestry/Carole King (Last Week #1, Week 3) - #2 the week of October 2, 1971

2) Rumours/Fleetwood Mac (LW #3, W3) - #1 the week of October 1, 1977

3) Whitney/Whitney Houston (W2) - #3 the week of October 3, 1987

4) Grease soundtrack (W2) - #2 the week of October 7, 1978

5) Judy at Carnegie Hall/Judy Garland (LW #2, W3) - #1 the week on October 1, 1961

6) Bye Bye Birdie soundtrack (DEBUT) - #2 the week of October 5, 1963

7) Xanadu soundtrack/Olivia Newton-John and Electric Light Orchestra (DEBUT) - #4 the week of October 4, 1980

8) Private Dancer/Tina Turner (DEBUT) - #4 the week of October 6, 1984

9) Songs from the Big Chair/Tears for Fears (DEBUT) - #3 the week of October 5, 1985

10) True Blue/Madonna (DEBUT) - #5 the week of October 4, 1986

A lot of great music: I voted for Judy, Fleetwood Mac and Grease. Couldn't help but notice there are some major Olivia Newtown-John fans out there, Grease and Xanadu are miles ahead of everything else already by a staggering amount!

I guess it's ALL about the musical this week, eh? I'm voting for Bye Bye Birdie (I was Randolph MacAfee back in 1977!); Grease & Xanadu. Musical theatre rules!! WOO HOO!!!!

Thanks for voting, Joel! And I'm surprised at how well both Grease and Xanadu are doing so far - especially since the former only came in 4th last week. I guess a lot more Olivia fans are voting this week!

Thanks for voting, Lance - and for giving poor Birdie it's only vote so far. I plan on featuring more musical theatre in the future!
