Battle of the Network Stars #13: 1972-73 TV Season

It's been 37 years since Battle of the Network Stars debuted on November 13, 1976, pitting television stars from ABC, CBS and NBC against each other in various sporting events. So I thought it would be fun to revive this competition by featuring the stars of a different TV season every week.

NBC won the 12th Battle, and the following stars will be moving on to Round 2:

Simon MacCorkindale (Manimal/NBC)
Harry Anderson (Night Court/NBC)
John Larroquette (Night Court/NBC)
Perry King (Riptide/NBC)
Joe Penny (Riptide/NBC)
Mark Harmon (St. Elsewhere/NBC)
Cybill Shepherd (The Yellow Rose/NBC)
Christopher Atkins (Dallas/CBS)
Sela Ward (Emerald Point N.A.S/CBS)
Jane Curtin (Kate & Allie/CBS)
Douglas Sheehan (Knots Landing/CBS)
Kate Jackson (Scarecrow and Mrs. King/CBS)
Diahann Carroll (Dynasty/ABC)
Anne Baxter (Hotel/ABC)
James Brolin (Hotel/ABC)
Madeline Kahn (Oh Madeline/ABC)

PLEASE NOTE: The next Battle of the Network Stars will be on Wednesday, December 4.

Now on to our 13th battle, which takes us back to the 1972-73 TV season when we welcomed the following 32 stars into our homes:

Fun as always but the choices we have to make! Suzanne Pleshette vs. Loretta Swit, Blanche vs. Mrs. Slocombe. Nearly impossible! That dishy Michael Ontkean was easy though.

Marc, I think you're getting a real "kick" out of making us make tough (in some cases impossible) choices! Seriously... Bea -vs- Michael? That's just mean! And John Inman & Mollie Sugden should have run away with the vote... but I'll bet neither one did. Sad...

Thanks for voting, Joel! However, Rue will be showing up again as "Blanche" whenever The Golden Girls are featured.

Marc that makes it a little better since I voted for Mollie Sugden this time.

Lance, I do get a kick out of it - and this is only Round 1. As for John and Mollie, he's currently holding his own against Jamie Farr, but she is having a tough time against the beloved Rue. Thanks for voting!

Alan Alda vs. Bob in week one, not fair. These were my two favorites from the entire list.

Sorry, Doug, but if you didn't vote for Bob this time, he will be showing up again in a future Battle.
