Dancing with the Stars: Last Dance

So last night Glee's Amber Riley became the first African-American woman to win the competition, and her partner Derek Hough received his fifth Mirror Ball Trophy, which is a series record for a professional dancer (he previously won in 2008 with Brooke Burke, 2010 with Nicole Scherzinger and Jennifer Grey, and last spring with Kellie Pickler). Jack Osbourne and Cheryl Burke came in a respectable third, while Corbin Bleu and Karina Smirnoff were the runner-ups. Apparently Corbin messed up during his cha-cha-cha (I didn't notice it), which resulted in a score of three 9's. However, I still think he would have lost even with a perfect score of 30 because I suspect that Amber has a few more fans.

All of the eliminated celebrities returned for the grand finale, including Brant Daughtery and his gorgeous smile as well as the most beloved and inspiring star of this season - Valerie Harper, who got to dance one more time with her cute partner Tristan. But the night belonged to Ms. Riley - or should I say "my little sausage" as Len Goodman amusingly called her? The girl proved that in addition to being a talented singer and actress, she could also entertain us on the dance floor - and I was thrilled with her well-deserved win.

So that wraps up my final recap of Dancing with the Stars. I don't know if I will watch the show again when it returns in March, but if some celebrity that I adore (like Ms. Harper) decides to shake their groove thing, I just might have to tune in.

It was a good finale! And I'm thrilled for Amber. She looked so happy to win.

It was cool that many of the dances the returning stars did were new, instead of re-dos of previous dances.

And, even though it might mean I'm cheating on my DWTS crush Derek, Brandt looked sooooo good last night with that beard. Mercy!

I'm with you, I don't know how much I'll watch in March (I will have to at least watch Derek's parts if nothing else). It'd be great if they got a good celebrity batch like that had this season. This was the best in a while.

Have a happy Thanksgiving, Marc!
