Web Series Worth Watching: The Season Finales of He's With Me and Thurston

Web Series of the Week: He's With Me and Thurston
Both of these groovy web series deserve to be honored for their excellent writing and fabulous performances as well as just being thoroughly entertaining. They also each tell a unique and interesting story that makes me look forward to every new episode.

He's With Me is a comedy series about Martin, a gay man, and Ted, a straight man, who meet and become friends. It's a very simple premise that is done exceptionally well through creator Jason Cicci's amusing dialogue and engaging cast, which includes Mr. Cicci as Martin, Bradford How as Ted, Darcie Siciliano as Martin's friend Val, John Cramer as Val's husband Eddie, and a scene-stealing Ryan Duncan as Martin's friend Benny. Having enjoyed the series' first season, I can't wait to see what happens in Season 2. To catch up on HWM, subscribe to its YouTube channel. You can also become a fan of the series on Facebook and Twitter.

Created by Kathryn O'Sullivan, Thurston is a Western drama set in a remote mining town in the 1880's Kansas Ozarks. It's also an addictive soap opera with some surprising twists and turns. And its ensemble cast couldn't be better, including Catherine Fields as landowner Maggie Callaway, Susannah Wells as prostitute Rosie MacGillicuddy, Lisa Nanni-Messegee as feisty widow Jo Maxwell, and Evan Casey, Felipe Cabezas and Garrett Brennan as the naughty Snead brothers. However, every good soap needs a great bitch, and Thurston has one of the best in actress Colleen Zenk (As the World Turns), who is deliciously wicked as matriarch (and former madam) Agnes Snead. And in the Second Season Finale, Walt Willey (All My Children) is introduced as Agnes' charming but dangerous husband, Edmund, while Maggie gives birth and someone gets married. I wouldn't want to live in the town of Thurston, but as a web series, it's definitely worth visiting! To catch up on the series, go to www.thurston-series.com.
