Remembering Harold Ramis and His Films

Harold Ramis, who died earlier today at age 69, wrote, directed and starred in many films, including Club Paradise (1986, co-writer and director), Armed and Dangerous (1986, co-writer), Caddyshack II (co-writer), Stuart Saves His Family (1995, director), Multiplicity (1996, director), Analyze This (1999, co-writer and director), Bedazzled (2000, co-writer and director), Analyze That (2002, co-writer and director), The Ice Harvest (2005, director) and Year One (2009, co-writer and director). And below are my 10 favorite movies of his (in chronological order):

National Lampoon's Animal House (1978): He co-wrote this film starring John Belushi.

Meatballs (1979): He co-wrote this film starring Bill Murray.

Caddyshack (1980): He co-wrote and directed this film starring Chevy Chase, Rodney Dangerfield and Bill Murray.

Stripes (1981): He co-wrote and starred in this film with Bill Murray.

National Lampoon's Vacation (1983): He directed this film starring Chevy Chase.

Ghostbusters (1984): He co-wrote and starred in this film with Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd and Sigourney Weaver.

Back to School (1986): He co-wrote this film starring Rodney Dangerfield.

Baby Boom (1987): He appeared in this film with Diane Keaton.

Ghostbusters II (1989): He co-wrote and starred in this sequel with Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd and Sigourney Weaver.

Groundhog Day (1993): He co-wrote, directed and appeared in this film starring Bill Murray and Andie MacDowell (this is my favorite Harold Ramis movie).

And, finally, here is Ramis's 1983 appearance on Late Night with David Letterman.

I was really stunned by his passing. I did not realize he was 69 - I guess I was still envisioning him in his adorable Ghostbusters guise. A real shame. They have been hinting at another Ghostbusters for several years now, with or without Bill Murray's participation. I guess this means it will never come to fruition. A shame, because I would love to have seen the guys together again.

I would've liked to have seen a Ghostbusters reunion film as well, Christoph.
