And the Daytime Emmy Award goes to . . .

The 41st Annual Daytime Emmy Award nominations were announced this morning, and here are a few of my thoughts:

Worst Snubs: General Hospital for Outstanding Drama and Outstanding Drama Series Writing Team and Maura West (General Hospital) for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama

Worst Nomination: One Life to Live for Outstanding Drama (although it was nice to see this beloved series return online last year, it just wasn't very good - and to select this show over General Hospital or even All My Children boggles the mind)

Best Nominations: The fabulous Eileen Davidson (Days of our Lives) for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama (she'll return to the show this summer) and one of my favorite web series, DeVanity, for Outstanding New Approaches - Drama Series (congratulations to creator Michael Caruso!)

There is still no TV network for the awards ceremony, which will be held on Sunday, June 22, at the Beverly Hilton. I'm not sorry that HLN (Headline News) is no longer hosting the awards because last year's broadcast with that bright red "interview" couch was often quite painful to watch. So having the ceremony only streamed online this year would be an improvement.
