Remembering Ed Nelson 1928 - 2014

Actor Ed Nelson, who died Saturday at age 85, was best known for his role as Dr. Michael Rossi in the 1964-69 prime-time soap opera, Peyton Place, and two TV movie sequels, Murder in Peyton Place (1977) and Peyton Place: The Next Generation (1985). He also played Senator Mark Denning in the 1982-87 daytime soap opera, Capitol. His other credits include the 1970-71 TV crime drama, The Silent Force, and such films as Attack of the Crab Monsters (1957), The Cry Baby Killer (1958), The Brain Eaters (1958), The Devil's Partner (1961), Airport 1975 (1974), Midway (1976), For the Love of Benji (1977), Brenda Starr (1989) and The Boneyard (1991).

Below are some videos I've selected to celebrate Mr. Nelson's life and career.

Again a nice tribute, Marc. It's been a hell of a week for Hollywood. While certainly not on the same fame level as Betty Bacall or Robin Williams Ed Nelson was everywhere on episodic television during the 70'-90's.

I see he predeceased the other two but it looks like it wasn't announced until yesterday. Perhaps he felt like Deanna Durbin and wanted his services over and private without media intrusion.

Thanks, Joel. I didn't hear about Mr. Nelson until Wednesday and then I decided he and Ms. Bacall both deserved their own tribute day on DEEP DISH.
