Web Series Worth Watching: Meet the bears of the new gay series, Barba Rija (Rough Beard)

Web Series of the Week: Barba Rija (Rough Beard)
Written and directed by André Murraças, Barba Rija (Rough Beard) is the first Portuguese gay web series about bears (with English subtitles provided). Its premise is similar to the popular American comedy, Where the Bears Are - three furry gay friends living together in Lisbon - but instead of a murder mystery, we will just be following their romantic and personal adventures. The first two episodes introduce us to Pedro (who decides to make a surprising change in his life after breaking up with his boyfriend), Ursão (who meets a young man with some unexpected news), and António (who is secretly in love with Ursão). So far I'm enjoying this new series, and I look forward to seeing what happens next to its interesting trio of men.

For more information about Barba Rija, go to barbarija.tv. You can also follow the series on Facebook.

PLEASE NOTE: The next Web Series Worth Watching will be on Sunday, September 7.

Other web series worth watching this week are:

The Horizon
This addictive gay soap opera set in Sydney, Australia, continues as AJ begs Saxon for another chance. To catch up on the series, go to www.thehorizon.tv or subscribe to its YouTube channel. You can also follow The Horizon on Facebook and Twitter.

Where the Bears Are
In the latest episodes of this groovy gay comedy, the sexy, hot duo of Detectives Winters and Martinez (Chad Sanders, George Unda) return - shirtless, of course - while Nelson is inspired by their tough-talking boss, Captain Frank Coley (played by a scene-stealing Tim Hooper). We are also introduced to Big Ben (Piankhi Iknation), the coroner's hunky new lab assistant.
