Live from New York, it's SNL's Top 10 Moments of 1980-82

To celebrate Saturday Night Live's 40th anniversary on October 11, I thought it would be fun to feature some of the show's most memorable moments (in chronological order). Click here to see previous posts - and now let's look back at SNL's sixth and seventh seasons (1980-82):

1) "The Reagans Adopt Amy Carter"
Episode 108/November 22, 1980
This episode - with host Malcolm McDowell - is widely considered one of SNL’s all-time worst shows, but I like this sketch featuring Denny Dillon as Amy Carter, Gail Matthius as Nancy Reagan, and Charles Rocket as Ronald Reagan.

2) "I Married a Monkey"
Episode 119/April 11, 1981
In his first episode as a cast member, Tim Kazurinsky) plays a suspicious husband who accuses his wife, Madge (played by a monkey), of having an affair.

3) "The Little Richard Simmons Show"
Episode 120/October 3, 1981
Eddie Murphy plays Little Richard Simmons.

4) "McDonald & Wife"
Episode 121/October 10, 1981
In this McMillan & Wife spoof, Joe Piscopo and host Susan Saint James star as Ronald McDonald and his wife Sally.

5) "Buh-Weet Sings"
Episode 121/October 10, 1981
Eddie Murphy debuts his Buckwheat character, who promotes his new album of favorite songs.

6) "Mister Robinson's Neighborhood "
Episode 122/October 17, 1981
Mister Robinson (Eddie Murphy) receives an eviction notice from Mr. Landlord (Tim Kazurisnky).

7) "Velvet Jones School of Technology"
Episode 122/October 17, 1981
Eddie Murphy plays entrepreneur Velvet Jones, who pimps his new book, I Wanna Be a Ho.

8) "Speaking as a Woman"
Episode 132/February 27, 1982
Shelley Winters (Robin Duke), Britt Ekland (Christine Ebersole), Harriet Nelson (Mary Gross) and host Elizabeth Ashley talk about their memoirs and celebrity lovers.

9) "Ladies' Restroom"
Episode 139/May 22, 1982
Paulette Clooney (Robin Duke) meets her idol, Olivia Newton-John, in the john (it's not a great sketch, but you gotta love Olivia).

10) "Ebony & Ivory"
Episode 139/May 22, 1982
Featuring Joe Piscopo as Frank Sinatra and Eddie Murphy as Stevie Wonder.
