Live from New York, it's SNL's Top 10 Moments of 1990-91



To celebrate Saturday Night Live's 40th anniversary on October 11, I thought it would be fun to feature some of the show's most memorable moments (in chronological order). Click here to see previous posts - and now let's look back at SNL's 16th season (1990-91):

1) "Sprockets"

Dieter (Mike Myers) welcomes his guest Karl-Heinz Shelkar (host Kyle MacLachlan), who compiles all the videos for Germany’s Most Disturbing Home Videos.



2) "Twin Peaks"

A spoof of the TV series featuring host Kyle MacLachlan as Dale Cooper, Kevin Nealon as Sheriff Truman, Chris Farley (in his first SNL episode) as Leo, Conan O'Brien as Deputy Andy Brennan, Phil Hartman as Leland Palmer, Victoria Jackson as Audrey Horne, Jan Hooks as Nadine Hurley and the Log Lady, and Mike Myers as the Backwards-Speaking Little Man.



3) "Pumping Up with Hans & Franz"

Host Patrick Swayze discusses his film, Ghost, and his new fitness book with Hans and Franz (Dana Carvey, Kevin Nealon).



4) "Chippendales"
Episode 290/October 27, 1990
Two dancers, Adrian (host Patrick Swayze) and Barney (Chris Farley), audition to earn a spot as a Chippendale.



5) "Pat at the Office"

Julia Sweeney debuts her gender-unspecific character Pat.



6) "The Sinatra Group"
Episode 297/January 19, 1991
Featuring Phil Hartman as Frank Sinatra, Jan Hooks as Sinead O'Connor, host Sting as Billy Idol, Chris Rock as Luther Campbell, Mike Myers as Steve Lawrence, and Victoria Jackson as Eydie Gorme.



7) "The Richmeister"

Rob Schneider debuts his character, "The Richmeister", an office worker whose desk is by the copy machine.



8) "Confession Can Be Exciting for the Soul"

Julia Sweeney confesses her sins to a handsome priest, Father Rod Forrestor (host Alec Baldwin).



9) "It's Pat: Pat at the Drugstore"
Episode 303/April 13, 1991
Host Catherine O'Hara plays a drugstore clerk who tries to help Pat (Julia Sweeney).



10) "Wayne's World"
Episode 305/May 11, 1991
Wayne (Mike Myers) and Garth (Dana Carvey) meet Madonna in a dream sequence.
