Live from New York, it's SNL's Top 10 Moments of 2002-04



To celebrate Saturday Night Live's 40th anniversary on October 11, I thought it would be fun to feature some of the show's most memorable moments (in chronological order). Click here to see previous posts - and now let's look back at SNL's 28th and 29th seasons (2002-04):

1) "Live! with Regis & Kelly"
Episode 535/January 18, 2003
Regis (Darrell Hammond) and a pregnant Kelly (Amy Poehler) interview actor David Caruso (host Ray Liotta). Chris Kattan also appears as flamboyant producer Michael Gelman.



2) "Colonel Angus"
Episode 538/February 22, 2003
Written by Tina Fey, this sketch features host Christopher Walken as Colonel Angus, who stays at a Southern family's Civil War-era plantation home.



3) "The Barry Gibb Talk Show"
Episode 547/October 11, 2003
The first appearance of this sketch featuring brothers Barry (Jimmy Fallon) and Robin Gibb (host Justin Timberlake).



4) "Versace Halloween"
Episode 548/October 18, 2003
Donatella Versace (Maya Rudolph) throws her annual Halloween party with guests Naomi Campbell (host Halle Berry) and Elton John (Horatio Sanz).



5) "Live! with Regis & Kelly"
Episode 549/November 1, 2003
Regis Philbin (Darrell Hammond) and Kelly Ripa (Amy Poehler) interview guest Angelina Jolie (host Kelly Ripa). Chris Kattan returns to SNL to appear as Gelman.



6) "Sex and the City"
Episode 558/February 21, 2004
This Sex and the City finale spoof features Amy Poehler as Carrie, Maya Rudolph as Charlotte, Rachel Dratch as Miranda, and host Christina Aguilera as Samantha.


7) "Boston Teens"
Episode 560/March 13, 2004
Sully (Jimmy Fallon) and Denise (Rachel Dratch) attend the wedding of their old pal Donnie Bartalotti (host Ben Affleck), but they are shocked to discover that it's a same-sex marriage ceremony.


8) "Good Times"
Episode 562/April 10, 2004
This spoof of the 1970s sitcom features Kenan Thompson as Florida, J.B. Smoove as JJ, Maya Rudolph as Thelma and Willona, Finesse Mitchell as Michael, Tracy Morgan as Bookman, and host Janet Jackson as Penny.



9) "Hogwart's Academy"
Episode 563/May 1, 2004
Featuring Rachel Dratch as Harry Potter, Seth Meyers as Ron Weasley, host Lindsay Lohan as Hermione Granger, Chris Parnell as Fred Weasley, Jimmy Fallon as George Weasley, Will Forte as Severus Snape, and Horatio Sanz as Rubeus Hagrid.



10) "Debbie Downer"
Episode 563/May 1, 2004
Rachel Dratch makes her first appearance as Debbie Downer, who eats breakfast with a family at Walt Disney World.
