The 1st Annual Groovy TV Awards

Since 2015 was such a groovy year for television, I thought it would be fun to honor my favorite shows of the year with their own awards instead of doing a Top 10 list. So below are the recipients of The 1st Annual Groovy TV Awards (I've not seen Game of Thrones, Transparent or Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, so they were not eligible - but maybe next year).

Grooviest New Series: Wayward Pines
Runner-Up: Empire
Honorable Mention (tie): Crazy Ex-Girlfriend and Unreal

Grooviest LGBT Series: Looking
Runner-Up: Empire
Honorable Mention (tie): Nashville and The Haves and the Have Nots

The Most Disappointing Series: Best Time Ever with Neil Patrick Harris (I was hoping it would be like The Carol Burnett Show, but instead it was one of the worst variety shows I've ever seen)
Runner-Up: The Slap (I wanted to slap every annoying character)
Dishonorable Mention: Wicked City (the totally awesome '80s soundtrack deserved better than this dismal show)

The Grooviest Daytime Soap: Days of our Lives celebrated its 50th anniversary with lots of delicious drama as major characters were killed off - Will Horton, Bo Brady - and "The Necktie Killer" was finally captured (but it is a shame that Will and Sonny's love story ended so sadly - and that Chandler Massey can never return as Will).

The Grooviest TV on DVD Release: The Carol Burnett Show: The Lost Episodes Ultimate Collection
Runner-Up: Maude: The Complete Series
Honorable Mention: The Colbys: The Complete Series
