Remembering Earth, Wind & Fire's Maurice White 1941 - 2016

Singer-songwriter Maurice White, who died Thursday at age 74, founded the band Earth, Wind & Fire in 1969 and received seven Grammy Awards. From 1966 to 1969, he performed as a drummer with the Ramsey Lewis Trio. And he was a record producer of many albums, including Deniece Williams' This Is Niecy (1976), the Emotions' Rejoice (1977), Jennifer Holliday's Feel My Soul (1983), Barbra Streisand's Emotion (1984) and Neil Diamond's Headed for the Future (1986).

In 2006, White co-wrote several new songs for the Broadway jukebox musical, Hot Feet, which featured the music of Earth, Wind & Fire. And as a member of the band, he was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2000.

To celebrate Maurice White's life and career, I've selected some of Earth, Wind & Fire's groovy tunes for you to enjoy:

"Shining Star" (1975)

"That's the Way of the World" (1975)

"Got to Get You into My Life" (1978)

"September" (1978)

"Boogie Wonderland" (1979)

"After the Love Has Gone" (1979)
