Remembering Arthur Hiller and His Films



Arthur Hiller, who died Wednesday at age 92, directed many films during his 50-year career, and below are my 10 favorite movies of his (in chronological order):

The Americanization of Emily (1964) starring James Garner and Julie Andrews



The Out-of-Towners (1970) starring Jack Lemmon and Sandy Dennis



Love Story (1970) starring Ali MacGraw and Ryan O'Neal (Hiller won a Golden Globe and received an Academy Award nomination for Best Director for this film)



The Hospital (1971) starring George C. Scott and Diana Rigg



Plaza Suite (1971) starring Walter Matthau, Maureen Stapleton, Barbara Harris and Lee Grant



Silver Streak (1976) starring Gene Wilder, Jill Clayburgh and Richard Pryor



The In-Laws (1979) starring Alan Arkin and Peter Falk
