Remembering Curtis Hanson and His Films



Curtis Hanson, who died Tuesday at age 71, wrote and/or directed many films, and to celebrate his life and career, I'm featuring 10 of them (in chronological order):

He wrote The Silent Partner (1978) starring Elliott Gould, Christopher Plummer and Susannah York.



He directed Losin' It (1983) starring Tom Cruise and Shelley Long.



He wrote and directed The Bedroom Window (1987) starring Elizabeth McGovern, Steve Guttenberg and Isabelle Huppert.



He directed Bad Influence (1990) starring Rob Lowe and James Spader.



He directed The Hand that Rocks the Cradle(1992) starring Annabella Sciorra, Rebecca De Mornay and Julianne Moore.



He directed The River Wild (1994) starring Meryl Streep, Kevin Bacon and David Strathairn.



He co-wrote and directed L.A. Confidential (1997) starring Kevin Spacey, Russell Crowe, Guy Pearce and Kim Basinger (he and Brian Helgeland won an Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay, and he received a nomination for Best Director).



He directed Wonder Boys (2000) starring Michael Douglas, Tobey Maguire, Frances McDormand and Robert Downey, Jr.



He directed 8 Mile (2002) starring Eminem, Mekhi Phifer, Brittany Murphy and Kim Basinger.



He directed In Her Shoes (2005) starring Cameron Diaz, Toni Collette and Shirley MacLaine.
