Actor Dick Gautier, who died Friday at age 85, was best known for his roles as Hymie the Robot in six episodes of the 1965-70 sitcom, Get Smart, and Robin Hood in the 1975 ABC sitcom, When Things Were Rotten. Other television credits include the 1967 CBS sitcom, Mr. Terrific, and the 1973 ABC sitcom, Here We Go Again (with Larry Hagman). He was also the host of the syndicated game show, It's Your Bet, from 1970 to 1971.
Gautier received a 1961 Tony Award nomination for Best Featured Actor in a Musical for his performance as rock and roll star Conrad Birdie in Bye Bye Birdie. He also appeared in the feature films, Ensign Pulver (1964), Divorce American Style (1967), Fun with Dick and Jane (1977) and Billy Jack Goes to Washington (1977).
Below I've selected some videos to celebrate his life and career.
He sang "Honestly Sincere" in Bye Bye Birdie, and on June 12, 1960, he and the cast appeared on The Ed Sullivan Show.
He appeared on Get Smart on January 29, 1966.
As a frequent game show panelist, he appeared with his second wife, actress Barbara Stuart, on Match Game in July 1973 and Tattletales in April 1974
