Web Series Worth Watching: Tired Old Queen at the Movies reviews The Manchurian Candidate
Web Series of the Week: Steve Hayes: Tired Old Queen at the Movies
The fabulous film critic reviews John Frankenheimer's political thriller, The Manchurian Candidate (1962), starring Frank Sinatra, Laurence Harvey, Janet Leigh and Angela Lansbury, who deservedly won a Golden Globe and received an Oscar nomination for her performance as one of the ten greatest villains in cinema history (according to Newsweek). The film is about the brainwashing of a soldier (Harvey), who becomes an unwitting assassin in an international communist conspiracy. It's full of suspense and wonderful performances, and I agree with Mr. Hayes' critique that "it will keep you tied to your seat 'til the very last frame."
