Love this sort of challenge!! You have some absolutely fantastic films listed, too many to comment on each but two that caught my eye that are huge favorites of mine-Christmas in Connecticut-a film that I think shows why Barbara Stanwyck was the most versatile of the iconic Golden Age stars-all the others were great but only she was able to relax so comfortably into comedy and switch back to heavy drama. Nobody else except Rosalind Russell even came close but Roz didn’t have Stanwyck’s intensity. That said Auntie Mame was the other that stood out from your list. That movie is such a hoot while being outrageous.

Inspired by your lists I came up with my own, but I started in 1930 and used the same cut-off year. Top first, runner-up second. *The exception is 1939-I just couldn’t narrow further than a top 10!

Hey, Marc! You posted some great movies. I love a good Facebook challenge so check out my blog. I started with 1962 but couldn't narrow it down to just one. Oh, well. It was fun looking through these. :)

Joel & Alan, thanks for sharing your own film selections. The Shop Around the Corner, Written on the Wind, What Ever Happened to Baby Jane? and On a Clear Day all might have made my list if I'd included an Honorable Mention Third Place. And, Joel, I, too, have a fondness for The Trouble with Angels (and its sequel) and The Last of Sheila..
