The Groovy List wishes Jonathan Groff would Call Me by Your Name

The Groovy List is a weekly roundup of groovy gay pop culture:

Remembering Jim Nabors 1930 - 2017

Actor and singer Jim Nabors, who died Thursday at age 87, was best known for his role as Gomer Pyle in the CBS sitcom, The Andy Griffith Show (1962-64), and his own spin-off show, Gomer Pyle, U.S.M.C. (1964-69). Other television credits include the CBS variety show, The Jim Nabors Hour (1969-71), for which he received a Golden Globe nomination for Best TV Actor in a Comedy or Musical; the ABC Saturday morning children's show, The Lost Saucer (1975-76); and the syndicated talk show, The Jim Nabors Show (1978), for which he received a Daytime Emmy nomination for Outstanding Host or Hostess in a Talk, Service or Variety Series. He also appeared as a guest in every season premiere of The Carol Burnett Show because Burnett considered him a "good luck charm".

Nabors appeared in three feature films starring his friend Burt Reynolds - The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas (1982), Stroker Ace (1983) and Cannonball Run II (1984). He was also a successful recording artist, releasing 28 albums over the years, and from 1972 to 2014, he sang "Back Home Again in Indiana" with the Purdue All-American Marching Band before each Indianapolis 500 race.

In 1991, Nabors received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. And in 2013, he married his partner of 38 years, Stan Cadwallader, who survives him. Below I've selected some videos to celebrate his life and career.
