The Groovy List is looking forward to Bohemian Rhapsody



The Groovy List is a weekly roundup of groovy gay pop culture:

1) Groovy Guy: Gary Beach
The actor, who died on July 17 at age 70, was best known for his role as the flamboyantly gay theatre director Roger De Bris in the 2001 Broadway musical, The Producers, as well as the 2005 film version. He won the Tony Award for Best Featured Actor in a Musical for his performance. Beach also received Tony Award nominations for his performances as Lumiere in the 1994 musical, Beauty and the Beast, and Albin in the 2004 revival of La Cage aux Folles. Other Broadway credits include 1776 (1971), Something's Afoot (1976), Annie (1980), The Moony Shapiro Songbook (1981), Doonesbury (1983) and Les Misérables (2006). And in 1986, he appeared in the National Tour of the comedy, Legends!, starring Mary Martin and Carol Channing.

Beach is survived by his husband, Jeffrey Barnett. Below you can watch him in Annie (with Betty Hutton and Rita Rudner), in the Chicago tryout of The Producers, in a 2001 Theater Talk interview, and at the 2001 Tony Awards.

The actor, who is currently starring in The Boys in the Band on Broadway, is a guest on Show People with Paul Wontorek.



8) Groovy Guy: Dominic Cooper
The actor, who is currently starring in Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again and AMC's Preacher, is a guest on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.



9) Groovy Guy: Randy Rainbow
He performs his latest song parody, "A Very Stable Genius."
