Battle of the Network Stars #1: 1976-77 TV Season

It's been almost 37 years since the first Battle of the Network Stars debuted on November 13, 1976, pitting television stars from ABC, CBS and NBC against each other in various sporting events. So I thought it would be fun to revive this competition by featuring the stars of a different TV season every week. The winners will eventually move on to a second round until, finally, only one star will be left standing. I decided not to include anyone from daytime soap operas (they may receive their own competition someday), cartoons and puppet programs (eligible stars must be real), and reality series (eligible stars must be real stars).

So our first battle takes us back to the 1976-77 TV season when we welcomed the following 32 stars into our homes:

Loved Battle of the Network Stars, the 70's couldn't be beat for men comfortably running around in tiny speedos! Look forward to seeing who comes out on top.

I look forward to it as well! Thanks for your comment, Joel!

Oh my God, you're totally blowing my mind! First, I'd completely forgotten Dynamite magazine and secondly, how can I ever choose between boyhood crushes Grant Goodeve and Parker Stevenson? I cannot believe you would pit those two against each other! Also, I might have to turn in my Homo Card because I have zero recollection of the show featuring Bernadette Peters while I fondly recall everything else you listed; was this a one-off special or an actual series??

Hey, Anonymous, I'm happy to hear that my Battle has blown your mind! Sorry I put Grant and Parker up against each other - but that's where those two boys belong in my opinion. As for Bernadette's TV sitcom, All's Fair, it only lasted one season, but I recall liking it. Thanks for your comment!

WOW Jaclyn Smith beat Wonder Woman!
Can't believe you put them up against each other. And, can I say thank you. I completely forgot about my teen crush Dan Haggerty! Still love those bear men!

It was a close battle between Jaclyn and Lynda - and I would've been happy with either of them winning since I adore them both. But I also enjoy pitting two very popular TV stars against each other to see who wins.

I am happy that I reminded you of your teen crush, MovieJunkie. Thanks for your comment!
