Battle of the Network Stars #10: 1979-80 TV Season

It's been almost 37 years since Battle of the Network Stars debuted on November 13, 1976, pitting television stars from ABC, CBS and NBC against each other in various sporting events. So I thought it would be fun to revive this competition by featuring the stars of a different TV season every week.

BBC and CBS tied in the ninth Battle, and the following stars will be moving on to Round 2:

Jane Horrocks (Absolutely Fabulous/BBC)
Joanna Lumley (Absolutely Fabulous/BBC)
Jennifer Saunders (Absolutely Fabulous/BBC)
Julia Sawalha (Absolutely Fabulous/BBC)
June Whitfield (Absolutely Fabulous/BBC)
Bob Newhart (Bob/CBS)
Chad Allen (Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman/CBS)
Joe Lando (Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman/CBS)
John Ritter (Hearts Afire/CBS)
Tom Skerritt (Picket Fences/CBS)
Josie Bissett (Melrose Place/Fox)
Marcia Cross (Melrose Place/Fox)
Grant Show (Melrose Place/Fox)
Andrew Shue (Melrose Place/Fox)
Jerry Orbach (Law & Order/NBC)
Helen Hunt (Mad About You/NBC)

Now on to our 10th battle, which takes us back to the 1979-80 TV season when we welcomed the following 32 stars into our homes:

Fun as always. That picture of Gil Gerard is an awesomely awful bit of cheese, if I had any idea who Jared Martin was I would have voted for him because of it but I couldn't do that in good conscience.

I'd forgotten all about B.A.D. Cats as I'm sure Michelle Pfeiffer would like the world to do. Well if you can survive Grease 2 and become a big name movie star I guess a bad TV show is no big deal.

From looking at the picture of Michelle Pfieffer, it certainly looks like she has had a nose job. Gil Gerard was one fine looking man!

Hey, Joel, thanks for voting!

I just couldn't resist posting that Gil Gerard pic. As for Mr. Martin, you must not have been a Dallas fan because his character of Dusty Farlow was quite memorable. And, finally, I do like featuring long-forgotten flops starring future celebrities like Ms. Pfeiffer.

Thanks for your comments, MovieJunkie - I agree with them both!
