Battle of the Network Stars #7: 1974-75 TV Season

It's been almost 37 years since Battle of the Network Stars debuted on November 13, 1976, pitting television stars from ABC, CBS and NBC against each other in various sporting events. So I thought it would be fun to revive this competition by featuring the stars of a different TV season every week.

ABC won the sixth Battle, and the following stars will be moving on to Round 2:

Ricki Lake (China Beach/ABC)
Neil Patrick Harris (Doogie Howser, M.D./ABC)
Joan Chen (Twin Peaks/ABC)
Sherilyn Fenn (Twin Peaks/ABC)
Piper Laurie (Twin Peaks/ABC)
Peggy Lipton (Twin Peaks/ABC)
Kyle MacLachlan (Twin Peaks/ABC)
James Marshall (Twin Peaks/ABC)
Michael Ontkean (Twin Peaks/ABC)
Grace Zabriskie (Twin Peaks/ABC)
David Hasselhoff (Baywatch/NBC)
Crystal Bernard (Wings/NBC)
Tim Daly (Wings/NBC)
Steven Weber (Wings/NBC)
Jon Cryer (The Famous Teddy Z/CBS)
Scott Thompson (The Kids in the Hall/HBO)

Now on to our seventh battle, which takes us back to the 1974-75 TV season when we welcomed the following 32 stars into our homes:

I'm sorry, but how can I possibly choose between "Ma" Ingalls and Weezie??

Battles are never easy, TampAGS - and I do enjoy making them difficult.

Cher or Valerie Harper! Such a SOPHIE'S CHOICE! Sorry, Cher, but I voted for Val. But know that I did it while listening to your great new CD!

Ida Morgenstern vs. Mother Jefferson! Valerie Harper vs. Cher! The agonies of choice! But decisions must be made so the Rhoda girls (along with Julie Kavner) emerged victorious.

Also I had forgotten all about Amy Prentiss. It wasn't on long but it was one I enjoyed and Jessica Walter brought her usual toughness to the part.

Kevin & Joel, thanks for voting - and sharing a few of your favorites! And I'm glad to know someone else remembers Amy Prentiss.

Now that was a trip down memory lane. Wesley Eure made my heart swoon!

Judging from how well Mr. Eure is doing so far, it looks like he made many hearts swoon! Thanks for your comment, Rick!
