Dancing with the Stars: Week 8

I have a very bad feeling after last night's frustrating elimination of Brant Daugherty, who did not deserve to be sent home. Is comedian Bill Engvall this season's Bristol Palin? I certainly hope not, but it's quite possible that his large fan base will help him get to the Final 3 - even though he's not a very good dancer. This unfortunate situation only reminds me why I don't watch this show that often - it's a popularity contest more than a dance competition. And many folks seem to enjoy rooting for the underdog instead of those who can actually dance well. To each their own - but if Bill makes it to the Finals, the show will become a joke once again.

I did enjoy Cher as a guest judge last night. She was amusing as always - and she gave every performance a 9 except for Bill and Emma's disco routine, which deserved less than an 8. All the couples - except for the highest-scorers, Amber and Derek - had to compete in a Dance-Off challenge, which earned each winner an additional 3 points. Maybe if Brant and Peta had won their Dance-Off, someone else would have gone home. Then again, perhaps the handsome actor just doesn't have as many devoted fans as the rest. I am going to miss seeing him and his dazzling smile each week.

Now here are my Week 8 rankings of the remaining stars and their dancing partners in order of preference as well as a prediction of who will be eliminated next week:

1 (Last Week #1) Corbin Bleu & Karina Smirnoff (Score: 27+3=30)
Cher thought their Argentine tango was "amazing" - and I agree. I also enjoyed their cha-cha-cha during the Dance-Off challenge, which they won.

2 (LW #2) Amber Riley & Derek Hough (Score: 28)
I've always been a big fan of shirtless rumbas.

3 (LW #4) Leah Remini & Tony Dovolani (Score: 25+3=28)
Their Viennese waltz to "I Got You Babe" was sweet.

4 (LW #6) Jack Osbourne & Cheryl Burke (Score: 27+3=30)
It was a smooth tango for a pimp.

5 (LW #3) Elizabeth Berkley & Valentin Chmerkovskiy (Score: 25)
I didn't care for their intense jazz dance - but at least she can dance well.

6 (LW #7) Bill Engvall & Emma Slater (Score: 24)
I love disco music, but Bill and Emma's disco dance was too easy and cheesy. And then they did the same exact routine for their Dance-Off challenge, which they deservedly lost.

Who Should and Will Be Eliminated Next Week: Please, God, let it be Bill! He seems like a nice enough guy, but I'm tired of watching him dance. However, if his fans come through for him again, I predict either Leah or Jack will go home instead.

Leah and Bill are working my last nerve! They both need to go and soon. I hate that Brandt was eliminated.

But Derek, wow, once again! I had a hard time focusing on Amber at all because I couldn't take my eyes off him.

Loved Corbin and Jack's tangos too.

I like Leah - and I think she has improved a bit as a dancer - but Brant was so much better than her.
