Battle of the Network Stars #14: 1986-87 TV Season

It's been 37 years since Battle of the Network Stars debuted on November 13, 1976, pitting television stars from ABC, CBS and NBC against each other in various sporting events. So I thought it would be fun to revive this competition by featuring the stars of a different TV season every week.

CBS won the 13th Battle, and the following stars will be moving on to Round 2:

Yul Brynner (Anna and the King/CBS)
Buddy Ebsen (Barnaby Jones/CBS)
Bob Newhart (The Bob Newhart Show/CBS)
Suzanne Pleshette (The Bob Newhart Show/CBS)
Marcia Wallace (The Bob Newhart Show/CBS)
Gary Burghoff (M*A*S*H/CBS)
Jamie Farr (M*A*S*H/CBS)
Wayne Rogers (M*A*S*H/CBS)
McLean Stevenson (M*A*S*H/CBS)
Bea Arthur (Maude/CBS)
Rue McClanahan (Maude/CBS)
Esther Rolle (Maude/CBS)
Richard Thomas (The Waltons/CBS)
Julie Andrews (The Julie Andrews Hour/ABC)
Kate Jackson (The Rookies/ABC)
Michael Ontkean (The Rookies/ABC)

Now on to our 14th battle, which takes us back to the 1986-87 TV season when we welcomed the following 32 stars into our homes:

YAY!! Dana Carvey is winning (so far)! "Well, isn't that just EXTRA special?" =)

I thought this week was going to be a snap without any tough choices than I got to Jean Smart vs. Christina Applegate! I was never a fan of Married with Children but I've enjoyed Christina in everything else, Jean I've loved in everything so my vote went to her. Then Bebe vs. Annie which was the toughest since they are both always wonderful. It pained me to only vote for one, Bebe, but I guess choices must be made and I love these contest, tough decisions and all!

Lance and Joel, thank you for voting and sharing a personal favorite or two. Sorry for the difficult choices - but "Battles" are always tough!

Thank you for reminding us of "Fresno". Very funny mini-series poking fun at "Dallas" and all the other night-time soap operas.

Choosing between Bebe Neuwirth and Annie Potts, that's a very tough choice!

Thanks for voting, Alan - and I, of course, had to include Fresno (which needs to be released on DVD).
