The Grooviest Music of 2013

Here are my favorite groovy music experiences of 2013 in order of preference (click on a name for more info):

11) Kelly Clarkson
This holiday season she released an enjoyable new Christmas album, Wrapped in Red.

10) Eli Lieb
The gay singer-songwriter released a catchy new single (and music video), "Young Love".

9) Katy Perry
Yes, I like "Roar".

8) He's My Brother She's My Sister
While channel surfing last April, I discovered this terrific band performing "The Same Old Ground" on The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson.

7) Matt Alber
This year the openly gay singer-songwriter released a fun new music video of "Tightrope", a song from his 2011 album, Constant Crows.

6) Linda Eder
I saw this lovely lady in her 1994 Chicago debut at the Park West, and 19 years later I saw her again. She's still got it.

5) Capital Cities
I became a fan of this pop duo after hearing "Safe and Sound" from their debut album, In a Tidal Wave of Mystery.

4) Tom Goss
For the fourth year in a row this talented singer-songwriter has made my list with a wet and wild music video featuring his latest single, "Bears".

3) Steve Grand
This gorgeous guy has had quite the year since his first single, "All-American Boy", debuted on YouTube in July.

2) Spencer Day
I want to thank Howard Stump and his groovy music blog, Soundtrack to my Day, for introducing me to this handsome (and openly gay) crooner.

1) Sally Mayes and Beckie Menzie
My favorite music experience of 2013 was SASS, a one-night-only cabaret show featuring these two amazing ladies. It was a sublime evening of song and sass.
