Top 10 Tuesday of Groovy Music #12

Each week I feature 10 groovy albums that have appeared on the Billboard 200 (aka Top LPs) chart during the last 50+ years. You can vote for your three favorites, and the five with the most votes move on to the following week when five new albums will be added to the list.

Last week Donna Summer claimed the top spot with her 1979 album, On the Radio: Greatest Hits Volumes I & II, which received 30 votes out of the 193 cast. And this week she will be challenged by Dionne Warwick, Barbra Streisand and Mame.

1) On the Radio: Greatest Hits Volumes I & II/Donna Summer (Week 2) - #2 the week of December 8, 1979

2) True Colors/Cyndi Lauper (LW #5, W3) - #9 the week of December 6, 1986

3) Grease soundtrack (LW #2, W11) - #6 the week of December 9, 1978

4) People/Barbra Streisand (LW #3, W5) - #2 the week of December 5, 1964

5) Faith/George Michael (LW #1, W6) - #8 the week of December 5, 1987

6) Breakfast at Tiffany's: Music from the Motion Picture/Henry Mancini (DEBUT) - #18 the week of December 4, 1961

7) Mame original Broadway cast recording (DEBUT) - #47 the week of December 3, 1966

8) The Windows of the World/Dionne Warwick (DEBUT) - #36 the week of December 2, 1967

9) Double Fantasy/John Lennon & Yoko Ono (DEBUT) - #25 the week of December 6, 1980

10) The Broadway Album/Barbra Streisand (DEBUT) - #13 the week of December 7, 1985

Well it just SUCKS that there is not one single recording this week by Karen & Richard! Instead, I had to vote (twice!) for Barbra and once for Miss. Lansbury & Mame!

Sorry, Lance, I was surprised that neither Carpenters album made this week's list. But I'm sure your favorite singing duo will return in the future!

I guess Karen & Richard's two albums caused a split vote for them, I thought the same might happen to Streisand but she managed to squeak on through. Without the Carpenters my votes went to both of Babs albums but it was a tough choice between Dionne and Breakfast at Tiffany's. I went with Mancini & company since I'm a sucker for a cha-cha-cha.
