Groovy Music Showdown #1: 1975

I know many readers have enjoyed my Top 10 Tuesday of Groovy Tunes/Music poll, but I decided it was time for something new. So today is the first Groovy Music Showdown, in which 32 albums released during the same year will compete against each other. The winners will eventually move on to a second round until, finally, one album will be declared the grooviest.

PLEASE NOTE: The next Groovy Music Showdown will be on Tuesday, February 4.

Now on to our first showdown, which takes us back to 1975:

Loved the old contest but this one will be fun too. As always there were tough choices, some more than others. I couldn't believe how much trouble I had picking between America and 10cc!

Thanks for voting, Joel!

As always, I LOVE these contests, and the suspense of getting to "the grooviest"... but, for as much as I enjoy The Captain & Tenille, I am horrified that they are beating Karen & Richard (and by such a wide margin too!)!! :(

Hey, Lance, the Captain & Tennille's first album was their most popular one - and "Love Will Keep Us Together" was a BIG hit. I think this is why they are beating the Carpenters. But don't worry, Karen and Richard have other albums that I think will fair better in future showdowns.

I guess "Love Will Keep Us Together" no longer rings true for The Captain & Tenille

It's sad to hear about the Captain & Tennille - especially after 39 years of marriage.
