Top 10 Tuesday of Groovy Music #15

Each week I feature 10 groovy albums that have appeared on the Billboard 200 (aka Top LPs) chart during the last 50+ years. You can vote for your three favorites, and the five with the most votes move on to the following week when five new albums will be added to the list.

Last week the Carpenters remained at the top with their 1973 album, The Singles: 1969-1973, which received 46 votes out of the 261 cast. And this week they will be challenged by Carly Simon, Bette Midler and Olivia Newton-John.

1) The Singles: 1969–1973/Carpenters (Last Week #1, Week 3) - #2 the week of January 12, 1974

2) Barbra Streisand/A Christmas Album (W2) - the best-selling holiday album of 1967

3) On the Radio: Greatest Hits Volumes I & II/Donna Summer (LW #3, W5) - 40 weeks on the Billboard 200 chart in 1979-80

4) The Broadway Album/Barbra Streisand (LW #2, W4) - #2 the week of January 11, 1986

5) Saturday Night Fever: The Original Movie Sound Track (LW #4, W3) - #22 the week of January 7, 1978

6) Portrait/The 5th Dimension (DEBUT) - #25 the week of January 9, 1971

7) No Secrets/Carly Simon (DEBUT) - #1 the week of January 13, 1973

8) Bette Midler/Bette Midler (DEBUT) - #7 the week of January 12, 1974

9) Alicia Bridges/Alicia Bridges (DEBUT) - #33 the week of January 13, 1979

10) Totally Hot/Olivia Newton-John (DEBUT) - #35 the week of January 13, 1979

"Nobody Does It Better" (or so sings the awesome Carly Simon), and THAT'S why I have to vote for her this week. I'm also voting for Barbra's Christmas Album and, of course, Karen & Richard!

So many great choices this week, The Carpenters, Bette, Carly, the 5th Dimension and two of Babs best albums! It was almost impossible to choose but after weighing different combos I ended up voting for Karen and Richard, Carly Simon and Barbra's Christmas album, one of the best ever.

Lance and Joel, how interesting that you both voted for the same albums. Thanks for sharing your selections!
