Top Ten David Letterman Moments of 1987

In honor of David Letterman's final Late Show on May 20 - and to celebrate his 33 years as the longest-serving late night talk show host in TV history - I thought it would be fun to feature a series of Top Ten Lists of some of his most memorable moments. Click here to see previous Top Ten Lists - and now let's look back at 1986 (in chronological order):

1) Dolly Parton and Budd Wentz are Dave's guests on January 13, 1987.

2) Sandra Bernhard is Dave's guest on July 16, 1987.

3) On July 28, 1987, actor Crispin Glover appears as his eccentric character, Rubin Farr, from his film, Rubin and Ed. But Dave is not aware of this, which leads to a bizarre interview. Glover returns for a second interview on August 21, 1987.

4) An inebriated Oliver Reed is Dave's guest on August 5, 1987.

5) Belinda Carlisle and Buck Henry are Dave's guests on October 15, 1987.

6) Sonny & Cher reunite and sing together on November 13, 1987.

7) On November 18, 1987, it's "Cameo Night" with surprise visits from Christopher Reeve, Willard Scott, Susan Saint James, Peter Allen, Biff Henderson (standing in for Jill St. John) and Redd Foxx. And Madeline Kahn is Dave's guest.

8) On November 19, 1987, the show is broadcast from a hotel room on the 26th floor of the Milford Plaza in midtown Manhattan, and Dave's guests include Carly Simon.

9) On November 20, 1987, 165 gallons of milk are poured on Dave and his Suit of Rice Crispies. Also, his guests include John Malkovich and Victoria Principal.

10) "Dave Letterman's Old Fashioned Christmas" with guests Teri Garr and Dave's "family" on December 25, 1987.
