Live from New York, it's SNL's Top 10 Moments of 1978-80

To celebrate Saturday Night Live's 40th anniversary on October 11, I thought it would be fun to feature some of the show's most memorable moments (in chronological order). Click here to see previous posts - and now let's look back at SNL's fourth and fifth seasons (1978-80):

1) "The Nerds & The Norge"
Episode 67/October 7, 1978
Dan Aykroyd plays a low-pants wearing repairman in this Nerds sketch featuring Bill Murray as Todd DiLaMuca, Gilda Radner as Lisa Loopner, and Jane Curtin as Mrs. Loopner.

2) Elizabeth Taylor on "Weekend Update"
Episode 71/November 11, 1978
Bill Murray interviews Elizabeth Taylor (John Belushi), who chokes while eating chicken.

3) Roseanne Roseannadanna on "Weekend Update"
Episode 72/November 18, 1978
Health correspondent Roseanne Roseannadanna (Gilda Radner) talks about going to a health club after she quit smoking.

4) "The French Chef"
Episode 74/December 9, 1978
Dan Aykroyd plays Julia Child (the sketch was originally written for host Walter Matthau).

5) "Rock Against Yeast '79"
Episode 78/February 17, 1979
Gilda Radner performs as Candy Slice in this sketch, which also features Paul Shaffer as Don Kirshner, Laraine Newman as Olivia Newton-John, Garrett Morris as Bob Marley, Jane Curtin as Dolly Parton, and host Rick Nelson as himself.

6) "Point/Counterpoint" on "Weekend Update"
Episode 81/March 17, 1979
Jane Curtin and Dan Aykroyd deliver a debate on actor Lee Marvin's palimony case.

7) "Superhero Party"
Episode 81/March 17, 1979
Newlyweds Superman (Bill Murray) and Lois Lane (host Margot Kidder) invite fellow superheroes to a party. Also featuring Dan Aykroyd as The Flash, John Belushi as The Hulk, and Garrett Morris as Antman.

8) "The Nerds in Love"
Episode 82/April 7, 1979
Todd (Bill Murray) and Lisa (Gilda Radner) finally kiss in this Nerds sketch, which also features host Richard Benjamin as Todd's older brother Milt.

9) "Jewess Jeans "
Episode 97/February 16, 1980
Gilda Radner plays Rhonda Weiss, an "American princess and a disco queen" who models designer jeans in this commercial spoof.

10) "Lord & Lady Douchebag"
Episode 106/May 24, 1980
Host Buck Henry and Gilda Radner play Lord and Lady Douchebag.
