Live from New York, it's SNL's Top 10 Moments of 1988-90

To celebrate Saturday Night Live's 40th anniversary on October 11, I thought it would be fun to feature some of the show's most memorable moments (in chronological order). Click here to see previous posts - and now let's look back at SNL's 14th and 15th seasons (1988-90):

1) "Bush-Dukakis Debate"
Episode 247/October 8, 1988
The second and final presidential debate between Vice-President George Bush (Dana Carvey) and Governor Michael Dukakis (Jon Lovitz) featuring Peter Jennings (host Tom Hanks), Diane Sawyer (Jan Hooks), Sam Donaldson (Kevin Nealon) and David Brinkley (Phil Hartman).

2) "The Pat Stevens Show"
Episode 247/October 8, 1988
Pat Stevens (Nora Dunn) interviews Barbara Bush (Phil Hartman) and Kitty Dukakis (Jan Hooks).

3) "Nude Beach"
Episode 248/October 15, 1988
Written by Conan O'Brien, this sketch features host Matthew Broderick as a nudist with a small penis. However, it was cut from the previous week's dress rehearsal with host Tom Hanks, so below you can compare the two versions.

4) "Alex's Support Group"
Episode 260/February 25, 1989
Host Glenn Close reprises her Fatal Attraction role as Alex, who attends a support group.

5) "Plug Away with Harvey Fierstein"

10) "The Diner"

Brenda the Waitress (Jan Hooks) takes the order of a cowboy (Alec Baldwin in his first appearance as host).
