Remembering Garry Shandling 1949 - 2016

Comedian and actor Garry Shandling, who died Thursday at age 66, was best known for his two television sitcoms - Showtime's It's Garry Shandling's Show (1986-90) and HBO's The Larry Sanders Show (1992-98). He and Peter Tolan won an Emmy Award for Outstanding Writing for a Comedy Series for the final episode of Larry Sanders.

Shandling also appeared in feature films, including Love Affair (1994), Mixed Nuts (1994), Hurlyburly (1998), What Planet Are You From? (2000), Town & Country (2001), Iron Man 2 (2010) and Captain America: The Winter Soldier (2014). And before he pursued a career as a stand-up comedian, he wrote scripts for the sitcoms, Sanford and Son and Welcome Back, Kotter.
