Remembering George Kennedy 1925 - 2016



Actor George Kennedy, who died Sunday at age 91, won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for his performance in the 1967 prison drama, Cool Hand Luke. He also appeared in the Airport film series - Airport (1970), Airport 1975 (1974), Airport '77 (1977) and The Concorde ... Airport '79 (1979) - and in the three Naked Gun movies - The Naked Gun: From the Files of Police Squad! (1988), The Naked Gun 2½: The Smell of Fear (1991) and Naked Gun 33⅓: The Final Insult (1994). His other film credits include Charade (1963), Lost Horizon (1973), Earthquake (1974), Death on the Nile (1978), Bolero (1984) and Creepshow 2 (1987).

Kennedy starred in two television series - Sarge (1971-72) and The Blue Knight (1975-76) - and he played Carter McKay during the final three seasons of CBS's Dallas (1988-91) and in two reunion movies. He also played President Warren G. Harding in the 1979 NBC miniseries, Backstairs at the White House.
