Remembering Stan Lee 1922 - 2018

Stan Lee, who died today at age 95, was the editor-in-chief of Marvel Comics from 1945 to 1972 and later became its publisher (1972-96) and chairman. He co-created such memorable characters as the Fantastic Four (1961), the Hulk (1962), Doctor Doom (1962), Spider-Man (1962), Thor (1962), Ant-Man (1962), Iron Man (1963), Nick Fury (1963), Doctor Strange (1963), the Avengers (1963), the X-Men (1963), Daredevil (1964), Galactus (1966), Silver Surfer (1966), Black Panther (1966), the Falcon (1969) and She-Hulk (1980).

Lee also made cameo appearances in many films, including Mallrats (1995), X-Men (2000), Spider-Man (2002), Iron Man (2008), The Incredible Hulk (2008), Thor (2011), The Avengers (2012), Guardians of the Galaxy (2014), Ant-Man (2015), Deadpool (2016), Doctor Strange (2016) and Black Panther (2018). In 1994, Lee was inducted into the comic book industry's Will Eisner Award Hall of Fame, and he received a National Medal of Arts in 2008 and a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2011.
