Remembering Stanley Donen and His Films



Stanley Donen, who died Thursday at age 94, directed many films, and to celebrate his life and career, I'm featuring 25 of them (in chronological order).

Donen was married five times, including a 1972-85 marriage to actress Yvette Mimieux. He is survived by two sons as well as actress/director/screenwriter Elaine May, who was his longtime companion since 1999.

In addition to his many films, Donen also directed the music video for Lionel Richie's 1986 hit, "Dancing on the Ceiling", as well as the 1993 Broadway musical, The Red Shoes.




On March 23, 1998, director Martin Scorsese presented an Honorary Academy Award to Donen during the 70th Academy Awards.
