Remembering Diahann Carroll 1935 - 2019

The actress, who died Friday at age 84, won a Golden Globe Award for Best TV Star (Female) for her 1968-71 NBC sitcom, Julia, which was the first television series to star a black woman in a non-stereotypical role. In 1962, Carroll became the first black woman to win a Tony Award for Best Actress in a Musical for No Strings, and she received an Academy Award nomination for Best Actress for her role in the 1974 film, Claudine. Below I've selected some videos to celebrate her life and career.

Carroll was starring in the Broadway musical, House of Flowers, when she sang a song from the show ("A Sleepin' Bee") on NBC's Coke Time with Eddie Fisher on April 13, 1955.

She appeared in the 1961 film, Goodbye Again, with Anthony Perkins and Ingrid Bergman.
